My journey to health coaching has been a long and winding road. I started my career as a Certified Music Therapist before moving into the business world. I spent 30-ish years working in Corporate America, building skills in leadership, public speaking, project management and technology. After cancer diagnoses in 2008 and 2012, I knew I had to make some significant lifestyle changes if I wanted to see my son grow up and enjoy retirement with my husband. I began reading everything I could get my hands on, as well as attending conferences related to achieving optimal health. That research led me to adopt a (mostly) whole foods plant-based diet, and to make other lifestyle changes to improve my health.
I developed a passion for helping others and sharing what I learned. I shared my journey through my blog, Lights Cancer Action, and acted as the Executive Sponsor of our Health and Wellness group at work. More and more, I knew that health coaching was what I wanted to do with the rest of my career. The opportunity presented itself in 2017 when I suddenly found myself with the freedom to make my dream a reality.
I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition*, where I studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. With this knowledge, I will work with you to create completely personalized actions based on your goals to move you toward your ideal vision of health within your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and resources. In addition to my studies at IIN, I obtained my certification in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutritional Studies and eCornell. While my expertise is in the realm of plant based nutrition, I will work with each client to find the right diet and lifestyle for them.
